Obama Tax Plan Good For Working People

My hat goes off to Obama for a tax plan long overdue. Increasing taxes on people making over $2.9 Million dollars and reducing taxes on the rest of the population would help reduce the gap between the rich and the poor. This would be good for the country and good for everyone making less than $2.9 Million per year.

Unfortunately the people making over $2.9 Million per year usually have lots of influence to avoid paying more taxes. How greedy and selfish do you need to be? Average working people like myself would be happy to pay an extra $700k in taxes if only I were making over $2.9 Mil!

Bravo Obama. If they don’t want you as President in the United States will you come up to Canada? Canadians would be lucky to have such a strong candidate to vote for.

I am a 32 year old university educated Canadian father. I have watched the American public be duped by the Bush administration for 8 years - and by duped I mean lied to.

I do not trust John McCain any more than I trust George Bush. John McCain is not out of touch - John McCain is lying to you.

I trust Barack Obama and I think that is worth far more than any old school experience that John McCain can try to offer you. Obama appears well informed with a great sense of nobility that just might improve America’s international image. Obama is right that this wouldhelp your war on terror.

I have visited Vietnam and I have visited Cambodia and I have visited Laos and the Americans have bombed all these countries in the past and these people are happy to take American tourist dollars but they are bitter towards Americans for the wars and bombings the Americans have perpetrated on their peoples. Now the Americans are invading Afganistan and Iraq and devestating more countries and imposing their governments and their religions on these people.

Now the Americans are nearing conflict with Pakistan and Iran. It’s no wonder the Americans face so much terrorist threat. You have made so many enemies and they remember. Thank God that Obama recognizes that the American image is tarnished and that it is closely related to your current terrorist security crisis.

Electing Obama would not only be a smart choice but it might send a message to some of the enemies you are making that you are willing to change your ways. You are backing rabbits into corners and then making terrorists out of them when they will die to protect their families and their beliefs.

Is Premier Gordon Campbell Being Blackmailed?

With the next Provincial Election less than a year away Premier Gordon Campbell decided to announce massive pay increases for senior bureaucrats that includes a 43% pay increase of $105, 000 for Deputy Minister Jessica McDonald - bringing her annual salary to $348,600.

This is the second such increase in the past two years while BC minimum wage remains frozen at $8/hr for 7 years now.

The announcement was made mid-olympics which indicates to me that Gord hopes some of the revolt will be tampered by the Olympic distraction.

Is Gord trying to milk the province before he loses the next election? Or, is he trying hard to keep some dirty laundry from coming unfolded? If Jessica McDonald was blackmailing Gordon Campbell this would sure be a good way to keep the payoff on the books - because it sure seems like a stupid idea to give huge raises to top bureaucrats this close to an election.

I’m a Canadian. I can’t vote in the US Presidential election - all I can do is watch the antics with my jaw on the floor. What is John McCain thinking? Does the low-road smear-campaign really win over American voters?

John McCain wants to equate Obama with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton as being nothing more than a Celebrity figure.

If I were voting in the American election McCain’s tactic would cement my decision - Don’t Vote for McCain.

How long should Obama stay on the high road? Forever Barack. Keep it up. When politicians resort to low-road tactics it make’s them look desperate and untrustworthy. People can see through those sorts of tactics and it doesn’t bode well for the perpetrator. It just makes McCain look like another political scumbag.
